My Story

Hi, I was introduced to Scentsy in September of 2009.  Joining this company was THE BEST business decision I have ever made.  I want to share Scentsy with everyone on the planet so if you are thinking of joining a home based business, please contact me to set up an appointment so I can tell you ALL about it.  Iwas born in Rhode Island.  My mom died of cancer when I was 13.  My dad, who was blind, was left to care for three kids, ages 13 - 19.  My oldest brother was too busy doing his own thing so my sister basically ran the house and went to school, not having much time for herself.  She married and thenit was me and my dad.  I met Vin in 1976 and we married in 1980.  Two weeks after we came home from our honeymoon my dad died of a heart attack.  Guess he just wanted to make sure I was taken care of before he left me.  I had always worked as a Customer Service Rep. while able to work, also dabbling in Avon, Pampered Chef, Wildtree & Celebrating Home, all at the same time.  I found myself just purchasing products in each just to stay active.  I am legally blind at this point and became unable to hold a "real job" (as some people call the 9 to 5 jobs) in 200. It was ok though, we were muddling through with all the direct sales things.  Then it came to be I was the Jack of all trades and master of none. When I found myself having to purchase the products of EACH one each month just to stay active I was rethinking my situation.  Thank goodness my husband had a good job!In September 2009 I wqs selling Pampered at a fair.  An hour and a half into it let's just say it was a BAAAAAAAAAD day. NO ONE wanted to even talk about becoming a consultant or having a party.  The lady beside me was rockin'!  She had this product I had never heard of, which was Scentsy.  She was selling, chatting, taking orders and having a genuine good time.  HMMM.  I took home a basket party, which is the Scentsy catalog show.  I showed the catalog to my friends the next day and their reaction was phenomenal!!  I didn't even continue the basket party.  I went online and signed up that night!  The idea of sharing Scentsy was fun and rewarding all at the same time.  Giving people the option to take fire by candle out of the equation when loving candles was perfect!!  Before my launch party I already had a recruit and antoher came shortly thereafter.  It wasn't even hard work to get a recruit...I just spoke from my heart!! I truly am blessed with Scentsy.  I understand that the business can be given to family members, which is what I plan to do when my sight finally goes away totally.  I have one married son and one still single but together they will be able to continue on with my mission of telling eveyone on the planet about Scentsy.  Scentsy will be a part of the Kayata family loooong after I am unable to continue. An update now..It is January of 2012.  I have a wonderful team of 14, which is about to grow again.  I've had 4 very important days in my life.  First, my wedding day, second and third the births of my sons & four the marraige of one son.  I've never had a picture of myself on this website, always the default.  Well, my husband is such an integral part of my business I figured I would share the limielight.  The photo of us was taken at my son's wedding in 2010.Thank your interest in Scentsy.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me.  I look forward to helping you, whether it be to buy, host or join...or just chat.  Thanks also for reading my story.  I hope you have a scentsational day! Mary
